About the Assistive Technology Center

Did you know that Portland State University houses one of only two federally funded assistive technology centers in the state of Oregon?

The ATC is a resource center with an on-site computer lab with assistive technologies for people with orthopedic, visual, hearing and learning impairments.

Through a collaboration with Portland State University and non-profit organization Access Technologies, Inc., the Assistive Technology Center at PSU is able to provide computer access, evaluation, training and many other services.

Assistive technology (AT) encompasses devices that increase function, independence, participation, and productivity for people with disabilities. AT can range from easy-to-obtain and inexpensive products like electric staplers to sophisticated, specialized adaptations for computer access.

ATC Staff provide assistive technology evaluations and training. Appointments are recommended for training and evaluation sessions. The ATC Computer Lab is open on a drop-in basis.

The ATC serves any person with a disability who is affiliated with PSU or is a community member.
